How did I not post this already? Visiting The Patch MK is one of our family traditions and we always make sure to visit for both the sunflowers and pumpkins. Each year gets bigger and better – and my gosh, this year was honestly the best yet!
If you’ve visited before, then you’ll know the fields are
separated by a walkway with the flowers on one side and all the fun on the
other! I love that each year, there are new additions to keep things exciting
but all the ‘old favourites’ are at The Patch too… whether that be the glorious
photo opportunities or the activities and amusements.
Amongst the new for 2024 was the Labyrinth of Illusions,
which began with the incredible shrinking room and took us through a maze of
optical illusions, puzzles, and fun warped mirrors, before ending with the
super cool – if unsteady – anti-gravity room and the vortex tunnel (which didn’t
seem to affect me in anyway). To see more of this maze (and the rest of the Fun
Fields) see my linked reel. The Timber Tower frame was also new and great for climbing
(and playing on), and Alfie loved the Harvest Hoop – a basketball shooting practice.
Also, within the Fun Fields were:
- Bale mountain and the bale maze
- Duck racing and duck flight
- Lost World maze and Musical maze
- Mini golf
- Slide World and Slide Hive
- Wall Ball, Cornholes, Roller Bowler and Rodeo Hoopla games
- The Beach
- Barrel Train
Lat year, we never got round to the exploring the Musical maze, so I made it my mission this time. It’s the smallest of the mazes, but so
much fun with the different musical instruments, making it entertaining for all
the family… I mean, I think Ash enjoyed it more than Alfie – he was certainly
in his musical element! I’m glad we ticked it off, but it did mean we had to
bypass the Lost World maze this year (which we failed to complete last time).
I had actually won The Patch’s social media competition to
name their new Fun Fields and Flower Field bears (which can be purchased in the
shop), so I was looking forward to collecting my prize – of course, one of the
bears! Unfortunately, it was a quick whizz around the Flower Fields (alone, due
to unruly kids – well one unruly child and another who needed feeding), so I
couldn’t fully appreciate all the photo opportunities there this time. I did
grab a pair of secateurs and purchase a bunch of sunflowers, as well as a jar
of honey, and the other bear (as well as my free Cornelius) so they could
couple up. There was a real variety of sunflowers this year – over 20 types, I
think – and the wildflower fields were just stunning too. Be sure to take a
look at my Flower Fields reel.
New photo opportunities were the vintage bicycle and giant
frame. Returning for another year were the gorgeous wooden swing, the seven-foot
butterfly, iron heart and bridge walkway. For the children, the combine
harvester and tractor provided photo opportunities and imaginative play in
equal measure.
I feel like I really rushed the Flower Fields this time,
which was a shame as it’s my favourite part of visiting The Patch in summer –
but it’s a place you really could spend all day and still not manage to do and
see everything in its entirety. Our 1pm slot certainly wasn’t enough time,
especially as we spent an hour making our way through the Labyrinth of
Illusions. It’s always a fantastic day out, with the grazing shed, coffee and
ice cream vans providing plenty of food and beverage options.
We cannot wait to return for the pumpkins – with our mini
pumpkin in tow (he has the cutest outfit). Tickets are available now!
