We love a farm day and during the Easter holidays, we were invited to Odds Farm Park in Wooburn Green, High Wycombe for their ‘Spring into Easter’ event. We’d never been before and it’s about an hour’s drive from Milton Keynes – I’d heard so many good things though and was looking forward to a fun family day out.
First things first – there is SO much to do and see! You could easily arrive for opening and leave when the farm closes. We stayed for about five hours, which was enough time for the boys (especially in the heat), and we managed to do pretty much everything. Because we were so blessed with the weather, we didn’t spend much time indoors and I made the boys a packed lunch, so we ate that outside on one of the wooden benches. You can see our day out in my reel.
That said, there’s several eateries and a really
cool indoor play zone, complete with drop slides. Before we left, we spent 10 minutes
there, but Alfie was gutted to find he wasn’t allowed on the slides – arms and
legs must be completely covered, to avoid friction burns.
In the arts and crafts room – our first stop –
there was free colouring, design your own bunny mask and coaster decorating. We
made a couple of masks before heading to the massive outdoor play area. It’s
mainly wooden climbing apparatus, with some swings, seesaws, and a lovely
sandpit area too. A great place to burn off some energy, I let Alfie roam free,
while I helped little man on the baby seesaw – which he loved! I loved the
giant deck chair, perfect for photo opps. We then went to the Go Karts, which there
was always a queue for. I let Alfie do five laps before letting someone else
have a go!
We then met the animals in the barn and fed the
friendly (but greedy) goats and sheep. We were given two bags of animal feed,
which was just as well – they were so hungry. The boys loved petting the goats
and we quickly made our way to one of the handwashing stations – luckily, there
are a few on-site. Unfortunately, we missed all the animal experiences which
included bottle feeding the baby goats, stroking the rabbits, meeting the farmers
and watching them milk the cows, as well as helping them feed the pigs.
After a round of Marmalade’s Mini Golf on the
18-hole course (which I won, btw), we went to see the Easter show – The Great
Eggsperiment with Professor Egghead and Henrietta Hen. It was a great show,
with audience participation, dancing and of course, all the egg puns. A quick
pitstop meant it was time for ice cream – where I had the dreamiest strawberry
sorbet (which had to be shared with little man) – we went back to the barn to
meet the Easter bunny and the boys had their photo taken.
There was just enough time to head to Dipple Wood
to take part in the Easter scavenger hunt. By collecting the five eggs on the
card – which varied in colour and pattern – Alfie won a chocolatey treat, which
he had to scoff straight away! It was a really cute set up, but definitely
geared to children younger than 7!
We then went over the fields to ride a mini Land
Rover at Marmalade’s Mini Rover course*. Alfe turned into a little speedster and
went off-roading, completing two laps of the course. He loved it – his highlight
of the day, he kept telling me – and was even happier to receive a medal at the
end! By this point, bubby boy had fallen asleep, so it was a quick 10 minutes
in the soft play before heading for home.
The bits we missed (other than the animal
experiences) were the water play zone and the tractor and trailer ride – there’s
always next time.
If you missed the Odds Farm Easter extravaganza this
year, don’t worry – later this month for the May half term, there’s Half Term Hoedown. Join Bad Bess and Sheriff Goody for lots of rip-roaring fun, cowboy
crafts, sheep shearing, welly wanging and some cool country games. You won’t
want to miss it!

*We were invited to Odds Farm Park FOC and had the
mini golf and Mini Rover rides included (these are additional cost activities,
and not included in your entry admission). All thoughts and images are 100% my
