Yes, I know – it’s another brunch! This time hosted by the lovely Samantha of Mummas & Bubbas Bucks/Oxon. We all met at The Grand Junction in Buckingham, a pub I’d been meaning to try out for a while (I’ve heard good things). A wonderful morning of eating, drinking and socialising was in store. Having attended a similar event (brunch at French Affaire) the previous week, I was feeling more confident and actually spoke to other mums this time – as well as my friend who I met there.
On arrival, we were welcomed and offered a glass of fizz, a
mimosa or a non-alcoholic mimosa – and these were all free-flowing throughout
the morning. We were seated in the granary, a really nice outbuilding in the
courtyard area – it was perfect for the size of the event. The tables were
nicely decorated with flowers from local florist, Howes the Florist – and we
all had a small bouquet each to take home.
Tea and filter coffee was also unlimited throughout the morning,
or we could upgrade to barista coffee for a charge… I was happy to stick with
the free stuff! There were also bottles of water and cloudy apple juice on the
tables for us to help ourselves to. I had a couple of coffees and regret not having
some of the juice, because it looked delicious!
We all pre-booked our brunch dishes and once again, I had food
envy as the meals came out. The breakfast baps looked insane! I had the chopped
avocado and poached eggs on sourdough, which was very nice – although one of my
eggs was perfectly cooked and runny, while the other was on the hard side. The
rocket and fresh red chilli were a tasty touch and I have to say, I enjoyed my
dish.
Although there was no childcare on hand, the babies and
toddlers were very well entertained with some lovely board books on the tables
(including That’s Not My… and Each, Peach, Pear, Plum), a play
mat with plenty of toys and even a small soft play with ride-on toys – provided
by Tiny Gym Haddenham.
Us mummies were treated to delicious cupcakes from Baked by Rosie (they were out of this world – trust me); as mentioned, the cute bouquet
of flowers; and even some Lindt chocolates. There were Freddie’s Farm berry
bars for the little ones (I took mine home for Alfie) and the goodie bags were
provided by Water Babies – and even included a baby thermometer, perfect for in
the bath!
Chrissie of Oops A Daisy wowed us with her gorgeous and unique
fabrics, selling a selection of baby and toddler clothing – ranging from
rompers to dresses and all-in-ones. Unfortunately, I didn’t get much time to
check out the clothes rail, but the orange print caught my eye, as did the
safari fabric. I have ordered a couple of bits for baby boy since – pumpkins (for
autumn and the patch visits) and animals (yet another Christmas present). You
can find Oops A Daisy on Instagram or Etsy.
Of course, these events need a photographer, and we were
joined by Kim from White Pineapple Photography, who took some really stunning candid
photos of us – as well as photos of the food and décor – which were sent to us
after the brunch. We were also given a voucher for a studio experience –
although, I’d already booked in after a competition win. You may have seen it
on Instagram, but I might share it on here soon, because it really was an exceptional
afternoon.
Samantha really did look after us throughout – from the warmest
of welcomes, to ensuring we had enough to drink and making sure our flutes were
never empty (even if they were non-alcoholic mimosas!). Halfway through the
event, she gave all the suppliers and small businesses a chance to speak, and
it was nice to get know more about them.
Thank you to Samantha, The Grand Junction, and all the
small businesses in attendance who made the brunch event what it was! The next
brunch in Buckingham is already on sale – will we be seeing you there?
Love, Lucy xx
