The Mum Club brunch at French Affaire

Cupcake with 'Lucy' note in hand

Sorry, not sorry about all the brunch content – #MatLeaveLife – but if you saw my post about the Toddle About Baby Show, you’ll know I booked a brunch with The Mum Club Milton Keynes at one of my favourite places… French Affaire in Stony Stratford. It’s a place I’ve been to a few times, most recently for our anniversary brunch.

Delicious iced coffee and a tasty cupcake.

We had exclusive access to the restaurant for the morning and with our tickets, were treated to two drinks and a plated brunch dish. As the weather was warmer, I chose two iced lattes - although I have to admit the first was much stronger than the second. We could choose hot drinks or a selection of soft drinks from the menu – either way, there was plenty of choice.

We had to pre-order our dish and the brunch menu was a much smaller version of French Affaire’s usual daytime menu, with options including sweet and savoury crepes, as well as omelettes, eggs and smashed avo, among others. I went for the Poulet Supreme savoury crepe which was dreamy. A lovely thin crepe packed full of filling: chicken, peppers, cheese and spring onion, and topped with Marie Rose sauce and parmesan. It was very filling.

There were some lovely small businesses there, as well as goodies for all of us mummies. We all received the most perfectly iced cupcakes from Wednesday's Bakery (who actually happens to be local to me) – just stunning, but certainly not style over substance with the most gorgeously light, soft sponge. We also received a tub of vitamins from Phizz, and beautiful tote bags with TMC branded bits and wipes from Bambo. Guardian Angels Childcare were there to look after the babies and my bubba had a lovely nap on the playmat amongst the LoveVery Montessori toys. There were some really lovely toys to be played with.

Sophie Last Photography took some fantastic candid shots off us all enjoying the event.as well as some delicious snaps of the food. What a way to give us all food envy! We were sent the link afterwards and the photos looked wonderful. And last but by no means least, there was a beautiful pop-up shop by Wilf & Friends. I couldn't help but buy a few bits: the cutest baby sunglasses; a really lovely organic cotton, baby sensory activity pad; and a stackable rainbow toy (put away for Christmas – yes, I said it!). Lauren’s website is now live, so be sure to check it out. I’m hoping I’ve not missed anyone.

I have to admit I felt nervous and apprehensive beforehand as I'm not the most confident in group situations like this and also super protective of baby boy – but Kelly of TMC Milton Keynes has created a really lovely and relaxed atmosphere, regardless of being friends or not, great food and drink and my judgement. My friend was also in attendance, so I had someone to sit with and chat to – although I met another mum in the car park. I don't know what I was worried about… it really was the loveliest morning.

The next event is an afternoon tea at Locanda Gabriella in Olney on July 25th and tickets are still available. The menu sounds delicious. You can see all the details and book online. Whether you have a bump, baby, or toddler and come with friends or alone, you're guaranteed a wonderful morning, so don't miss out!

Thank you to Kelly, the team at French Affaire, the sponsors, and suppliers for a really great brunch event – I had a fantastic time. I even got to take a packet of nappies home!
