Oh My Cakery | July’s Subscription Box

Oh My Cakery subscription box containing mixed brownie and blondie slices

It’s been a while since I posted my last Oh My Cakery subscription box, in fact it’s been a while since I posted full stop and let me tell you – July’s didn’t last long! Alfie and I practically inhaled the contents at home, and we also took a fair few bits to my mum’s for her birthday picnic (which we ended up having to eat in the car, due to the rain… but that’s a whole other story).

I hadn’t seen the July box promoted on socials or email, so it was a complete surprise when it arrived. We were in luck though, as it was a mixed brownie and blondie box – with eight slices – four brownies and four blondies – all in different flavours. These were:

  • Peanut butter brownie
  • Salted caramel brownie
  • Slutty brownie (IYKYK)
  • Biscoff brownie
  • Nutella blondie
  • Cinnamon roll blondie
  • Cherry Bakewell blondie
  • Jammy blondie

A slice of peanut butter brownie cut in half

I tucked straight into the brownies, trying the peanut butter and salted caramel varieties – they were both incredible! In fact, the peanut butter one had such a lovely rich nutty topping with super fudgy brownie and it reminded me of these peanut butter brownies I’ve made several times in the past (but really must make again soon).

If you've not had a slutty brownie before, get to know – you really must try one! Basically, it’s a three-layer bake, with a bottom layer of chocolate chip cookie dough, topped with Oreo biscuits and then a layer of chocolate brownie. It’s as decadent as it sounds – without being too sickly.

My favourite had to be the Nutella blondie though, which really reminded me of marble cake. It had that light yet cakey texture, and a hit of chocolate with the Nutella swirled into the top of the bake. It was so delicious, I simply could not resist and cut it into two slices – eating half before slicing the remainder up. I think I could have demolished it all in one sitting, though.

Slices of blondie in three different flavours

Alfie chose the blondie selection to take to mum’s and made a very good selection – taking the remnants of that Nutella blondie, along with the cinnamon roll and cherry Bakewell flavours. All went down an absolute treat so the weather couldn’t even put a dampener on that! The Bakewell slice was topped with flaked almonds, jam and icing and oh my gosh, it just tasted like the classic dessert… I was all over it. But the cinnamon roll was next level and up there with my favourites. It’s just such a lovely flavour – and I think cinnamon rolls/buns/swirls are massively underrated.

I know I say it every month, but it was a fantastic box and well worth the money, especially for a subscription. After all, who doesn’t love cake? I’d definitely recommend signing up, especially if you can’t get to the cake trailer or any of the events that Oh My Cakery attend. You can find out more details on the website.

Stay tuned, as August’s box is just around the corner (of course, we’ve scoffed that one too).
