Alfie is 8 months – Walk around Stoke Bruerne – Only 93 films to go... – Tale as
Old as Time Afternoon Tea at Town House, The Kensington
A
lot of this update actually featured on the blog over the past month but first
an apology (again) for the lack of content last week – both Alfie and I have
been poorly, which hasn’t been fun and has involved a lot of time at home. It’s
not been so bad as the weather has been largely rubbish, but not being able to
go to group or socialise has been the worst! As a lot of my readers/followers
will know, May is my least favourite month, so I spent a lot of it grumpy or
miserable.
One
highlight was that I went to Town House at The Kensington for their Beauty
& the Beast-inspired afternoon tea: Tale as Old as Time. It was one of my
birthday presents from Ash and was definitely worth the wait. We made an
afternoon of it in the end, going to Lego Shop and M&M World, before
walking through Green Park. Read more: Tale as Old as Time Afternoon Tea at Town House, South Kensington.
In
my last update, I mentioned that Alfie was crawling – and now there’s no
stopping him! Well, now he’s standing up! He loves to hold onto anything (the
sofa, the TV cabinet, my leg, the shower...) and I’m adamant it won’t be long
before he’s actually walking – especially as he can furniture cruise! I cannot
believe he’s coming up to nine months and we’ve already booked our appointment
with the health visitor.
We’ve
done loads more exploring of the local area – and travelled slightly further
out too! It’s amazing how many scenic walks, views and lovely places are in
close proximity to us... you wouldn’t really think it, when you think of MK. We
drove to Stoke Bruerne for a walk along the canal and a pub lunch; walked
around Furzton Lake; and went back to Willen Lake (which is always busy but
such a great spot). It’ll be so much better when Alfie is bigger and walk
around for himself – and more importantly, stay awake to see the ducks and
geese!
And
of course, May 24th marked the day that my dad passed away; you may
have seen my From the Archive Friday post on Facebook! We travelled back to
Essex on the Sunday before, to take some flowers to the Burial Ground and in
true Alfie style, as soon as we sat him on the lawn, he face planted the plot!
We then went to my mum’s for a barbecue, which my brother cooked. It was so
lovely to see him and for him to see how Alfie is developing – it’s just not
the same on Snapchat or Instagram! On the actual day (Thursday), my mum came up
to see us – unfortunately, Alfie had been poorly at this point. We had a chilled
afternoon and a nice lunch at home. Having Alfie definitely took my mind off
it, though. But I did get some gorgeous flowers: from Ashley earlier in the
month and from my lovely friend Vicky on the day.
What have you been up to lately?
Love, Lucy xx
