Well
as we are now in February, my birthday seems an age ago – funny, when you
consider that January was supposedly the
longest month ever! After the Christmas comedown, a week practically
bed-bound with the flu and having to contend with a teething munchkin, I have
to agree. But January is also both mine and Ashley’s birthdays (16th
and 31st) – and I wanted to share what I got for mine.
As
I mentioned in my Brunch at The Waffle House post, my birthday
celebrations began a little bit earlier – and that included the cards and
presents, too. Monday was the day I opened everything from Ashley and Alfie. My
main present is the most exciting – I’m going for Champagne afternoon tea at
The Townhouse – the Tale as Old as Time
Beauty and the Beast inspired experience. I’ve been desperate to go for over a
year now and I really can’t wait – even though it’s still a couple of months
away. Ashley bought me The Fat Loss Plan by Joe Wicks and the Lean in 15
Workouts DVD. I’ve used the book lots already and have good intentions to play
the DVD! I also got a goody box of Nakd products: raisins, nibbles and bars.
They’re my number one thing to snack on and I still can’t decide my current fave:
lemon drizzle, blueberry muffin or carrot cake? And Alfie got me the most
gorgeous blanket from M&S, which was perfect for snuggling in when I was
poorly. It’s also ideal for those cold winter nights, when we are downstairs
watching films together... or even during the day!
As
Ash worked on the Tuesday (my actual birthday), I had my mum over which was
lovely, not least because I was still unwell and needed a hand with Alfie. She
ordered the Plough(wo)man’s lunch hamper for two from Delimann, which was
delivered on the day, at lunchtime. As well as the cheese scones, cheese,
chutney and crisps in the hamper, mum also brought over some ham, salad bits
and coleslaw – it was quite a feast. She also bought me the cutest, cuddliest
giraffe – one of those microwavable ones with a lavender bag... again, perfect
for when I’m poorly (or just in need of a cuddle)! And finally, I got a lovely
Sanctuary Spa set consisting of candles, tealights, room mist and a diffuser,
all in their signature scent. Everyone knows my love for candles and they’ll
look great in our spare bathroom, while the rest of the house will smell beaut.
From
my auntie and uncle in Aus, I received a fabulous M&S nail polish set, with
24 different colours: some mattes, some glitters. I look forward to testing
them out. I’m saving my fingernails for my manicure on my spa day, but my toes
could do with the same treatment. We also got some lovely bits for the house:
his and hers initial mugs (which we use every day) and a really gorgeous ‘LOVE’
cushion (that looks great on our new furniture).
My
other auntie and uncle and my Nan sent me money, which I’ve currently not spent
– but I am planning on buying the Ugg slippers that were on my Christmas list.
Ash’s sister gave me a Next voucher, which I recently put towards a denim shirt
dress (photo on Insta soon, no doubt). Rob’s planning a surprise when I let him
know which dates are free – I reckon it’ll be an afternoon tea or lovely meal.
I anticipate finding that out...
Another
year closer to the big 3-0 and I was still thoroughly spoilt and feeling very
loved.
Love,
Lucy xx
