I’ve featured Giovanni’s Gelato on here before, but recently, we were invited to a very special event. On August 21st, Giovanni’s Gelato celebrated their 11th birthday – and we were invited to the iconic flagship shop in Central Milton Keynes to be a part of the festivities. The pink ice cream truck is pretty iconic and the attention to detail for this celebration was unreal – from the most gorgeous balloon arch to the show-stopping gelato counter which was full for the occasion. It was a really nice opportunity to catch up with fellow foodies, bloggers and influencers and boy, were we in for a treat!
Of course, all good parties need sweet treats – and Giovanni’s
Gelato have those in abundance. We celebrated in style with a delicious new and
limited-edition flavour – created solely for the event – cioccolato bianco con
fiore di arancia (white chocolate with orange blossom essence). Now I’m going
to say straight up that I’m not a fan of chocolate orange, in that I don’t
eat Terry’s chocolate orange, or the orange creams in selection boxes – even the
smell is off putting – but this gelato was unreal.
It didn’t taste like chocolate orange in that sense – just a
really nice, light, and creamy gelato base with white chocolate pieces, with
the delicate flavour of orange blossom gently swirled in. It looked and tasted
divine. I found it really refreshing and it made the perfect summer flavour. I
ordered mine in a pot (I’m a pot over cone, girl), while Alfie chose a cone.
The portions were huge, and each gelato was topped with a branded wafer. I have
to say this flavour was a hit with us both.
As well as meeting fellow bloggers and influencers, it was
a really nice opportunity to meet some of the faces behind the business –
including Antonina (who I’ve only ever spoken to via Instagram and email),
Carmelo and Filippo. Bhavisha (AKA @cookwith_b) was also there photographing
the event, getting all the tasty shots of the gelato, as well as us all enjoying
ourselves. There was a really nice atmosphere and definite party vibes.
But that’s not all – once we’d sampled the birthday gelato, sat in the super cute cone seats (fab photo opportunity, btw) and mingled, we got to return to the counter to take home cannoli. I’ve ordered this Italian sweet treat from Giovanni’s Gelato before, so knew it was good, but I go to try some different toppings this time. I’d had pistachio in the past (IYKYK), but this time I went for the glace cherries and chocolate chips and wow, they were both so good! I got them in a takeaway box to share but couldn’t resist but have a bite of each. They're authentic Sicilian cannoli, if you didn't know.
You can find the iconic pink van of Giovanni’s Gelato in Centre: MK, at entrance 11 of Silbury Boulevard, and while the cioccolato bianco
con fiore di arancia may no longer be available, there are plenty of other flavours
to enjoy, including the Great Taste Award-winning Amarena and Pistachio
Siciliana. As well as gelato, sorbetto and the cannoli, you can also enjoy
pancake, waffles, milkshakes and more – eat in or takeaway.
Thank you so much to the team at Giovanni’s Gelato for
letting us celebrate this very special milestone and here’s to many more.
Love, Lucy xx
*PR Visit: our gelatos and
cannoli were FOC. Thoughts and images are 100% my own.
