I think my wax melt obsession is well documented, but did you know I love an Advent Calendar? This year I was lucky to have not one, but five! I bought myself three – all of which will be featuring on the blog very soon (starting with this post!). My wonderful work team bought me a Candy Kittens one and our neighbours got Ash and I a coffee capsule calendar, too.
I couldn't
resist but buy a Chelsea's Melts calendar and I was so glad that I was able to
get one after Chelsea originally cancelled, due to problems with suppliers. The
calendar was priced at roughly £20, including P&P, and there were 24 doors
to open. All the scents were either Christmassy or wintry, which I loved – as
it meant trying lots of new ones out.

The Packaging
A silver and
white box, which had a snowflake decoration, and ‘Merry Christmas’ on the
front. So festive – and it looked great on our windowsill. It was a traditional
style calendar with perforated doors and each melt was a Christmas tree shape.
Much like a chocolate calendar, I popped each melt out of the door – and they
came out with ease. The scents were listed on the back of the box, in
number/day order, so it wasn't a surprise.
The Scents
As I mentioned,
all 24 melts were either Christmassy or wintry scents, and there were no
duplicates. Here’s what was behind each door:
- Christmas Memories
- Cashmere & Snowflakes
- Home for the Holidays
- A Merry Morning
- Mulled Pear & Cranberry
- Caramel Snowflake
- Warm Gingerbread
- Reindeer
- Cherry Marshmallow
- Christmas Tree
- Shimmering Spruce & Peppermint
- Sweet Fairy
- Vanilla Rum Ball
- Jingle Bells
- Fresh Sparkling Snow
- Sleigh Ride
- Chocolate Orange
- Nutcracker
- Tinsel
- Eskimo Kisses
- Winter Honeysuckle & Elderflower
- Frosted Candy Apple
- Apple Berry Spice
- Snow Walk
Alongside some
of the more popular scents – such as the Lush Snow Fairy dupe – were plenty of
new ones, which made it really hard for me to pick my favourites. From the new scents,
I instantly loved the Mulled Pear & Cranberry melt as well as Cherry
Marshmallow and Vanilla Rum Ball. To complete the top five, I'd have to pick out
Nutcracker and Winter Honeysuckle & Elderflower.
In terms of the
scents I didn't like, there were only two – Chocolate Orange (obv!) and Caramel
Snowflake. I have also saved in my Frosted Candy Apple melt for the autumn, and
it's gone into my Halloween stash already.
I have to be
honest and say that I’ve not tried every single melt out yet, but I’ve got the
remaining ones in a jar in my office, so as soon as I’m back to work, I’ll get
burning.

The Verdict
A well-priced
and presented calendar, which offered over three weeks of fun. Most melts
lasted for 16 hours before losing their scent and the throw was pretty
impressive too. Chelsea currently has a Christmas sale on her Etsy store – click
the link for more details.
