One
thing I’ve severely sacrificed over the last couple of years is buying myself
clothes. I’m in the process of updating my wardrobe, as we are rebuilding it
and as I get rid of old/big/unworn clothes, I can’t help but want to buy
more. I recently went shopping with my lovely work friend (and the kids) and I
ended up going wild. We only went to MK1 which has an H&M, Next and New Look
– but I had some Next vouchers which I put to good use. I also spent a fair bit
in H&M buying more clothes for Alfie, now he’s going up a size and myself,
mainly for work.
I’ve
never bought baby/kids clothes in H&M but, omg, isn’t it just fab? There
was 3-for-2 on a large selection of items and I could have quite easily bought
everything. I bought Alfie for blue joggers, as he already has a brown and grey
pair; and then he chose two jumpers. The jumpers are quite big as they’re 2-4
years, but I’m hoping they last the next few winters. The material is quite
thick and fleecy on the inside; I’m actually almost a bit jealous! He loves
dinosaurs, so that was a no-brainer – but it’s also great because all the boys’
clothes in all the shops are dinosaurs at the minute. I liked the star design
but he chose that too.
We
have more dinosaurs! The long-sleeved top is quite thin, but can be worn
underneath a jumper. It was in the basics range and was only about £4. The blue
dinosaur jumper with the embroidered print is so cute. Again, it’s quite thin,
but perfect for layering up, or wearing to nursery where it’s usually warm
inside.
I
offered to buy him some pyjamas as he only really has one pair that fit, but he
said no. Similarly, he turned the offer of wellington boots, slippers and
shockingly, a Paw Patrol jumper.
Okay
so I’ve realised that folded items do not photograph well and also looks huge.
The shirt is only a size 10, but there were so many different prints/designs to
choose from. I really liked a pale blue and white striped one but honestly
thought I wouldn’t be able to pull it off. There were animal print shirts still
too – I hadn’t realised it was still on-trend! Unfortunately, I only wore the
shirt once before I managed to catch it on a door handle and it ripped – devo’d!
You can’t go wrong with a roll neck at this time of year and this one’s kept me
very snug in the office! I’m a sucker for stripes and the ribbed material isn’t
too tight.
Again,
the jumper looks huge – I bought an XS but it’s still slightly over-sized. It’s
also the most wonderful material and I feel like a real-life polar bear in it.
It’s so fluffy and even when washed, retains its softness. It’s always so cold
in the office so the jumper’s definitely needed. I didn’t check if they had
other colours but I’d be inclined to buy those too. Finally, a new pair of
jeans. I’ve only ever bought H&M jeans once and they really weren’t true to
size and far too big. These are a lot better. You can never have too many pairs
of jeans and as we don’t have a dress code at work, I love a smart shirt/blouse
and jeans combo!
Oh,
and a bit random but I bought some socks as they were also 3-for-2 and because
I don’t own any! All the prettiness... well hearts and polka dots!
I’ll
definitely be buying more of Alfie’s clothes from H&M in future. I normally
stick to Matalan and Next, but the quality of the items (particularly after
washing) is great and everything’s so affordable. You could literally buy a
whole wardrobe on the 3-for-2 and spend less than £50!
Love,
Lucy xx
