On the eighth day of Blogmas... This is a bit of a cop-out, but I’m not even in the country today. Last year, I posted my favourite Christmas films so what better way to continue that trend with my favourite Christmas songs. I really need to get a Christmas Spotify playlist on the go, to get me through my commute – maybe I’ll sort that at the weekend. In the mean time, here is my top 10.
1.
Mariah Carey – All
I want for Christmas is You
This
is my all-time favourite, for no other reason that Mariah is incredible and I
always used to think I could hit those high notes too... who am I fooling?!
2.
The Pogues & Kirsty McColl –
Fairytale Of
New York
This is a classic and it’s always been a favourite
with the family. This would always be playing on Christmas Day
3.
The Waitresses – Christmas Wrapping
I
think this played in the background of many a family Christmas video as we were
growing up. For some reason, it reminds me of my dad
4.
Chris Rea – Driving Home
for Christmas
I’ve
only really liked this one since I’ve been working full time – that feeling when
we break up after a half day on Christmas Eve... winning!
5.
John Lennon – Happy Xmas (War
is Over)
Growing
up, mum often played the same Christmas CD and this was the first track – so it
brings back good memories
6.
Wham – Last Christmas
Sad
I know, but I love when the boys crack out the football version at Barnet. I
always end up singing along to that version instead of the correct one!
7.
Bing Crosby – White Christmas
See
above *hides*
8.
Destiny’s Child – 8 Days of
Christmas
Cheesy
I know, because it’s not even a particularly good song, but a bit of old skool
DC never did anyone any harm
9.
Shakin’ Stevens – Merry Christmas
Everyone
It’s
another one that played a lot at home when we were younger, especially at
Christmas parties. It’s so uplifting
10. Peter Auty – Walking in the Air
The
Snowman is one of my favourite Christmas films, so I just had to include this
What
are your favourite Christmas songs?
